Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Lehner grew up in Toledo, Ohio. He attended the University of Notre Dame for his pre-med education and obtained his medical degree at Ohio State University. He finished his orthopaedic residency at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio in 1978 and completed a scoliosis fellowship at the Kosair Crippled Children's Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Since returning to Dayton in 1979, he has been active on the faculty at Wright State University School of Medicine. He has been an attending orthopaedic surgeon at the Myelomeningocele Clinic since 1979 and worked in the Muscular Dystrophy Clinic for 20 years. His pediatric practice includes an extensive number of patients with cerebral palsy and other neuromuscular disorders as well as scoliosis and spinal deformity. In addition, Dr. Lehner has a large adult practice of spinal problems including scoliosis, kyphosis, spondylolisthesis, disc herniations, tumors, infections and degenerative problems of the spine as well as spine fractures. He has written a number of articles with a focus on scoliosis and spinal deformity. He also has a great interest in transfusion medicine. He has served of the Board of Trustees of the Community Blood Center in Dayton since 1989. He has been Chief of Staff at the Children's Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, served as the head of the Department of Orthopaedics at Miami Valley Hospital, and served on the board of the Ohio Orthopaedic Society for 10 years, 2 of which he served as President.

He is also involved in many community activities including being a junior high track coach for 19 years and currently officiating high school track. He has been married since 1970 to Peggy, who is currently serving a term as a State Representative for the 37th District of the State of Ohio. They have five children and are blessed with many grandchildren.
